Breast lifting (mastopexy) is performed in people who have drooping and loose breasts. Breast lift is performed alone in people who do not intend to change their breast size. This procedure can be performed in people who want to make their breasts smaller or bigger. In people who have had a history of pregnancy or a lot of weight change and have severe sagging and laxity of the breast, breast prosthesis and breast lift can be performed at the same time.
In mastopexy, an incision is made around the areola. Depending on the case, there may also be a need to make a downward incision from below the areola, and a horizontal incision below the breast may also be necessary to remove excess skin. Consult your doctor about incisions. In this procedure, the nipple is raised and the size of the areola is reduced if needed. Excess and loose breast skin is also removed. You will notice the changes immediately after the operation, although depending on the operation technique, it may take some time to get the final natural result.
Breast lift surgery is a surgery that is performed by a plastic surgery specialist in a center with an operating room equipped with sterile conditions and an anesthesiologist with general anesthesia equipment and a bed. Depending on the procedure required, the procedure takes about one to three hours and may require an overnight stay. Usually, in new methods, a drain is not placed.
It is better to avoid heavy food on the first night after the operation (after the nausea has subsided). From the next day, you do not have any special food restrictions. After the operation, you have some pain, but it is not very severe. However, it is recommended not to do heavy work for the first few days and, depending on the type of operation, take up to a week off from work.
After the operation, it is recommended to wear a cotton or elastic bra, and it is better if it opens and closes from the front. It is preferable to use medical bras. Change the dressings every other day. Instead of taping, you can hold sterile gauze in place with a bra. Do not go to the bathroom until the first visit 7 to 10 days after the operation. It is recommended to use a bra permanently for two months.
